Dear Fellow Alumni,

Cheo Hurley
The 2011-2012 school year promises to be an exciting one for your Gilman Alumni Association as we work hard to further the connection between alumni and the School. We are extremely grateful to outgoing President Brian W. Jones ’84, P’20 for the commitment, leadership, and enthusiasm he provided to our organization. We will strive to leverage the positive momentum from last year by continuing to build upon our core events and programs, including:
- Blue/Gray Weekend (November 4-5, 2011)
- Gilman Bull Roast (March 2, 2012)
- Spring Alumni Weekend-Reunions, Festival of Arts, Family Day and the Alumni Varsity Baseball Game (May 2012)
- Alumni and Faculty Dinner-Annual Meeting of the Alumni Association (TBD)
We look forward to seeing you at one of these events, but if you cannot make it back to campus, please stay in touch through the Gilman website.
As you know, alumni support is critical to the overall strength of any school. Last year, we collected over $31,000 in dues from 1,300 alumni. Your tax-deductible $25 contribution each year ($5 for young alumni) to the Alumni Association helps sponsor our many events and programs. I want to thank you in advance for your continued support.
Additionally, we’d like to welcome as new Alumni Board members Isaac J. Boltansky ’04, Hugh F. Cole III ’94, Damien L. Davis ’90, Frederick B. Lohr ’91, R. Nelson Oster ’93 (who was re-elected for another three-year term), Porter N. Siems ’73 and Donell Thompson, Jr. ’91(Middle School faculty representative).
In closing, when thinking about Gilman, please consider the basis for the bond we share as alumnus of Gilman School, as outlined in the statement below:
Gilman School is a diverse community dedicated to educating boys in mind, body, and spirit through particular emphasis on academic excellence, athletic participation, and aesthetic appreciation. Gilman seeks to produce men of character and integrity who have the skills and ability to make a positive contribution to the communities in which they live and work.
We look forward to seeing you back at Gilman soon.
Best regards,

Cheo D. Hurley ’92
