Curriculum

Channeling Curiosity

The Lower School consists of language arts (including reading, phonics, writing, spelling, grammar, and vocabulary), handwriting, math, social studies, and science. Resource subjects include French, Spanish, computer, design and woodworking, library, music, studio art, swimming instruction, and physical education/athletics.

The kindergarten consists of two homerooms with two full-time teachers leading each. The pre-first classes is organized as a single homeroom with up to three full-time teachers. Both the kindergarten and pre-first are housed in areas specially designed to meet the needs of young boys.

Grades one through five are divided into three heterogeneous homerooms. At the first through fifth grades there are four reading and math sections per grade. Students are grouped in a variety of ways to meet class and individual learning styles and needs. Grouping promotes social/emotional maturity as well as cognitive development and growth.

Classes begin at 8:10 a.m. and dismissal is at 3:15 p.m. An after school program is available until 6 p.m. each day.
