Why give? GIVE BECAUSE YOU CARE.
All gifts to Gilman make a difference. Without gifts, we would not have the Redmond C. S. Finney Arena, Henry Callard or John M.T. Finney Halls or the Lumen Center. We would not present the William A. Fisher Medallion, the School's highest award. Our student body would not be one of the most diverse in Baltimore. Our faculty would not be able to spend a sabbatical semester pursuing personal academic interests.
Private charitable giving allows us to respect and continue our traditions and design our future.
Both annual and capital gifts are essential to Gilman's well-being.
THE GILMAN FUND
Yearly unrestricted (and restricted) gifts to The Gilman Fund provide essential current-use funds to support the School's annual operating budget.
- The Gilman Fund makes up approximately 8% of the operating budget for the School each year. Gilman's annual operating expenses are approximately $33 million.
- The School depends on gifts from alumni, parents, past parents, grandparents, friends, foundations and corporations to contribute $2.3 million toward these expenses.
- Tuition covers approximately 76% of the cost of a Gilman education. Without The Gilman Fund, tuition would be considerably higher.
HONOR AND MEMORIAL GIFTS
Contributing to Gilman School in honor or memory of someone special in your life is a meaningful way both to recognize that individual's importance to you and to support the School.
ENDOWMENT AND CAPITAL GIFTS
Gilman School raises funds for capital purposes. A simple analogy likens capital giving to a savings account, setting money aside for special projects and long-term investment.
