On June 8 the 56 members of Gilman's Class of 2024 bade its farewell to the Lower School and was welcomed to the Middle School by Dr. Peter Kwiterovich during closing exercises.
Proud families filled the Alumni Memorial Auditorium for the ceremony. It was a particularly bittersweet time for 10 families whose older sons have already moved up, as their last sons were now following in their brothers' footsteps.
The class was recognized for their helpfulness, caring, and support of one another as well as their creativity and inventiveness. Mrs. Cyman described the departing 5th grade class in this way: "Like an excellent sports team, they were able to support each other and complement others in the class to produce a whole that was better than its parts."
The Unsung Hero Award was given to Leo Wang. George Guyton received the Lillian Alpert Community Service Award.
Faculty honors were awarded to: Trevlin Alexander, Apgar Award; Ashley Dagenais, Class of 1947 Award; Rakiya Orange, Dunn Award; and Debbie DeSmit, Gilman Advisor Award. Marian Xanders received a commemorative plate acknowledging her 30 years of service to Gilman.
Congratulations to all!
