Dear Middle School Parents,

NO SCHOOL DAY

Wednesday, November 22-Sunday, November 26: Thanksgiving Break
School will be closed on Wednesday, November 22, through Sunday, November 26. We will re-open on Monday, November 27, at 8:00 AM. Monday will be a Day 8.

IMPORTANT DATES

Tonight, Friday, November 17 & Saturday, November 18: Middle School Fall Drama Production
November 17, 7:00 PM show
| Gilman Alumni Auditorium
November 18, 3:00 PM show
| Gilman Alumni Auditorium
Tickets are still available! Tickets are $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for children and students. Purchase tickets in advance at www.gilman.edu/boxoffice or at the door of Gilman's Alumni Auditorium. We cannot wait for you to meet Harvey!

Harvey, a Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy by Mary Chase, is the story of a perfect gentleman, Elwood P. Dowd, and his best friend, Harvey -- a pooka, who is a six-foot tall, invisible rabbit. When Elwood begins introducing Harvey around town, his embarrassed sister, Veta Louise, and her daughter, Myrtle Mae, determine to commit Elwood to a sanitarium.

Now through Monday, November 20: Thanksgiving Food Drive
Delivery is on Tuesday, November 21 from 2:00-4:30 PM | Brown Memorial Church

The Middle School is proud to enter our 28th consecutive year supporting the food program of Brown's Memorial Church in Pimlico for Thanksgiving. Each boy in the school has signed up in their Homeroom to provide two specific items to help create full Thanksgiving meals for the less fortunate. Boys may bring in additional non-perishable items if they wish. The food will be delivered by members of the Student Council on the Tuesday, November 21, before Thanksgiving. We also ask each boy also donate $2.00 that will go towards purchasing chickens for each meal. Thank you very much for helping families in our city to have a special holiday meal!

Now through Friday, December 1: Full Music Rehearsals
Study halls from 2:00-2:45 PM and after school from 4:00-5:00 PM for Jazz Band and Handbell Choir

All of our music groups (Hand Bell Choir, Jazz Ensemble, Middlemen, Middle T's, Sixth Grade Band, Seventh & Eighth Grade Band, and String Ensemble) are working very hard to get ready for our Holiday Concerts. They have started full rehearsals to prepare for the concerts and will continue with these full rehearsals through Friday, December 1. These rehearsals take place in the afternoon during study halls and after school. The rehearsals are listed on the Gilman website and in this attachment. Please be mindful of early dismissals and if possible, please do not make appointments for your son on these days, as there are few rehearsals left until the Holiday Concert.

Monday, December 4: "Dress Up Day for All Students"
All Middle School students are expected to wear a sport jacket or blazer, dress shirt, and tie on this day. Concert performers are expected to be in their concert attire. (Concert attire is listed in the attachment.) Parents, please be sure to label your son's sportjacket or blazer with his first initial and last name.

Tuesday, December 5: Middle School Holiday Concert for Parents
7:00-8:30 PM | Alumni Auditorium
Please join us on for our Holiday Concert. All of our music groups will be featured. Parking will be available in the Old Gym parking lot. Students who are not performing will have the opportunity to see the concert on Monday, December 4, at 2:15 PM, so are not expected to attend the evening concert.

Middle School Exams
Middle School Exams for all grades will be on Thursday; December 14; Friday, December 15 and Monday, December 18. OnTuesday, December 19, there is no school for Middle School students, except for students that need to make up an exam missed due to illness. This day may also be used for exams if a regular exam day is canceled due to inclement weather. Dismissal on Exam Days will be at noon with our EDSP program running until 2:30 PM each day. School begins each exam day at the regular time, 8:05 AM, with a short assembly. For sixth and seventh graders, the exams are one hour in length, followed by a short athletic period. Students do not need to do any special preparation for the Talk class reviews. For eighth graders, each exam is ninety minutes in length. Lunch will NOT be served on Exam Days. Those boys who will be staying for EDSP should pack a snack or lunch for the days they will be staying late.
