Sic Semper
Sic Semper
That Upper School history teacher Mike Kelly gave his students a final project is not that unusual. That he told them to work together - as an entire class - to make a film is extraordinary. The assignment was simple: create a film built upon a historical thesis. The 20 juniors, half Gilman boys and half Roland Park Country School girls, produced a 15-minute film that draws parallels between John Wilkes Booth and Lincoln's assassination to Shakespeare's Julius Caesar.

Each student had a role in making the film - whether they appeared on camera as actors or worked behind the scenes as location scouts, costumers or prop masters. And, yes, the fire is real, as is the period gun used to shoot Lincoln, but the gunshots are not!

Enjoy "Sic Semper," the story of John Wilkes Booth and the assassination of Abraham Lincoln alongside Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. Starring Chris Cortezi, Max Cortezi, Zane MacFarlane and Riley DeSmit. A film by John Chirikjian '13.
