Sports Medicine

Encouraging the heath, fitness, and wellness of our athletes is a key element to teaching boys to develop lifelong fitness habits. When Gilman opened its Athletic Training Room in 1981, we became the first independent school in Maryland to have a full-time Certified Athletic Trainer. We continued to lead the way when a second CAT was hired in 1998.

The Gilman sports medicine program and training facilities offers athletes the finest care available. The main objective of our Athletic Training Room staff is to maintain, and/or improve, the physical and mental well being of the Gilman Community. Our trainers work with boys to improve their conditioning and strength in the preseason. They recognize, evaluate and offer immediate care of athletic injuries sustained during practice or competition, and then assist with rehabilitation and recondition after during recovery. The weight room equipped with cardiovascular equipment and the training room are available to all Gilman athletes.

Athletic Trainers

Gilman’s Certified Athletic Trainers deal with injuries at all levels and treat injured athletes, supervise rehabilitation, and provide sports medicine coverage at all home contests.
