Curriculum
The curriculum consists of language arts (including reading, phonics, writing, spelling, grammar, and vocabulary), math, social studies, and science. Resource subjects include French, Spanish, computer, design and woodworking, library, music, studio art, swimming instruction, and physical education/athletics.
The pre-first class is organized as a single homeroom with two full-time teachers and housed in a specially designed area. Grades one through five are divided into three heterogeneous homerooms. At the first through fifth grades there are four reading and math sections per grade. Students are grouped in a variety of ways to meet class and individual learning styles and needs. Grouping promotes social/emotional maturity as well as cognitive development and growth. Classes begin at 8:10 a.m. and dismissal is at 3:15 p.m. An after school program is available until 6 p.m. each day.
