In addition to teaching science in the Upper School, Alex DeWeese is Assistant Senior Retreat Director, leading a third of the senior class through their Senior Retreat experience. In the fall of 2021, he started the Science Help Center, which is a room on campus where students can drop in to meet with science teachers to receive extra help during their afternoon blocks.

What is your favorite spot on Gilman's campus?
My favorite spot on Gilman's campus is the Old Gym because it is one of the few locations on campus that has maintained the same look over generations of Gilman students.

Why do you enjoy teaching at Gilman?
I enjoy teaching at Gilman because it is an opportunity for me to give back to the school community that shaped me in my educational journey.
