Q&A

What was your best teaching moment?
A student told me he was extra prepared for his psychology unit because of the work he did in my biology class. Anytime we do a lab and the students have an 'aha' moment — when they are able to make connections between concept and application.

What is your favorite spot on Gilman's campus?
Top of the steps from the lower lot in the morning with sun shining on Carey Hall

Why do you enjoy teaching at Gilman?
The atmosphere is typically high energy which I enjoy; I enjoy sports so engaging in conversations with students about on and off campus sports is a fun part of my day(s); my colleagues are great; Cynosure allows me to work with students outside of the classroom in a creative way, which has been a great joy

What inspired you to become a teacher?
The realization that students needed to be pushed to excellence in high school (because I don't think I was), and I wanted to share my joy of science
