Q&A
What inspired you to become a teacher?
My educational path has not been linear. I have always followed the courses and subjects in which I have had the most influential connection with my teacher. In high school, I connected with Joe Duncan, Julie Checkoway, and Ian Brooks. In college, I took every class I could with Dr. Eva Florenza on Spanish Literature. In graduate school, I took classes with Dr. Sarhangi and Dr. Shirley on the influence that culture has on mathematics and that mathematics has on culture. My learning has been directly related to the teachers that I have had. I hope to have the same impact on my students.
