Mary Furrer is the Lower School Director of Admissions. Before moving to admissions, she was one of three teachers in Gilman's pre-first grade. She also served on the Lower School's student council committee and math committee.

Prior to joining the Gilman faculty in 2012, Mrs. Furrer spent 10 years teaching pre-first and second grade at St. Paul's School, where she also directed the before- and after-school program. For three of the 10 years, Mrs. Furrer also served the associate director of admissions for the lower school. Mrs. Furrer previously worked with the St. Paul's summer camp, the arly Childhood Department at the MD State Department of Education, and served as the Dean of Students at the Johns Hopkins Center For Talented Youth.

She graduated from Elon University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education and earned a master's degree from Towson University in administration. She is also trained in Phono-Graphix and Orton Gillingham.
