Each seventh grade language arts class enacted a mock trial of Mary Surratt, a conspirator in the assassination of President Lincoln. The boys took on various roles in the proceedings — prosecutors, defense attorneys, witnesses, court reporters, and jurors — and brought to life their knowledge of this time in history.
Author of “Women Win the Vote!: 19 for the 19th Amendment” Nancy B. Kennedy virtually visited seventh graders on Wednesday, March 23. Her presentation corresponded with their U.S. history curriculum.
Seventh graders visited Ford’s Theatre in Washington, DC, via Zoom, on Friday, February 25, organized by Middle School librarian Faith Ward. The students are reading “Chasing Lincoln’s Killer'' by James Swanson for Language Arts class, and this program sought to enrich their study of the time period.
