Prospective parents and students are invited to join us for a visit this fall. We look forward to getting to know your family and sharing all of the unique opportunities that Gilman School has to offer.

Upcoming Admissions Events for 2025-2026

Creating an account in our Admissions Portal is the first step in the admissions process. You will complete your son's online application through the Admissions Portal, and a non-refundable $50 application fee is paid when his application is submitted.

Applications become available in late August and are due by Monday, December 15, 2025. We encourage you to begin the application process early so you have ample time to complete the necessary steps.

Once you create your Admissions Portal account, you will want to use this login page to gain access to a dynamic checklist. The portal checklist is an excellent tool to keep track of where you are in the admissions process. You will also receive emails from our office with reminders as the application deadline approaches.

Application fee waivers are available for siblings of currently enrolled students, sons of alumni, and sons of Gilman faculty/staff members. Please contact Jamie Frieman to obtain your code.

Please Note: All Gilman students are required to have age-appropriate, state-mandated vaccinations. Only medical exemptions will be considered.

Once you have submitted an application, please use the Admissions Portal to schedule a time to visit the Middle School.

We are excited to welcome your family to campus! Upon arrival, parents will join a member of the Admissions Team for a campus tour, lasting approximately one hour. Your son will meet his host and attend classes, recess, and lunch alongside current students to help provide a snapshot of a day at Gilman. He'll also spend some time with a member of the Admissions Team to talk about his interests and ask any questions he may have. Student Visits will conclude at 1:15 p.m.

To complete the required testing component for the 2025–2026 admissions season, all Middle School applicants have the option to take the ISEE, SSAT Middle Level Test, or our In-House Assessment.

If your son plans to take the ISEE between the months of October 2025 and January 2026, you may sign up for any host school/site online. A searchable database of dates and locations is available as part of the registration process. You also have the option to sign up to take the ISEE at home. Please include Gilman's school code (210095) when registering so that we receive a copy of the results.

If your son chooses to take our In-House Assessment, testing will be administered on campus the morning of Saturday, January 10, 2026. Additional information (including registration) will be shared with parents/guardians of applicants after winter break.

Gilman School requests that all assessments be completed by Monday, January 19, 2026.

As part of the application process, our Admissions Office requires three years worth of report cards. Please use the Record Release Form to authorize your son's current school to send us his academic records, including any standardized test scores. Report cards may also be uploaded directly to the Admissions Portal.

All applicants need to submit two Common Referral Forms (teacher recommendations): one from his current English/Language Arts teacher and one from his current Math teacher. Other subject area teacher recommendations are welcomed but not required. Common Referral Forms can be shared with your son's teacher(s) after Friday, November 14, 2025. As a required element of our application, these forms will be marked complete on your son's Application Checklist once received by the Admissions Office.

Student transcripts and Common Referral Forms must be submitted by Monday, January 19, 2026. Gilman retains an applicant's information in the strictest confidence, as defined in the Association of Independent Maryland and D.C. Schools (AIMS) Policy Statement on Confidentiality of Student Recommendations.

Gilman offers tuition assistance to families based on need. To determine the level of assistance for which a family qualifies (if applicable), a separate application must be submitted through Clarity.

Families can access Clarity's online application beginning Wednesday, October 1, 2025. To get started, please create an account here. The application typically takes less than 30 minutes and must be completed by Monday, December 15, 2025, which is also the admissions application deadline. There is a non-refundable fee of $65 to submit an application.

Reminder: Business owners are required to upload their most recent business tax returns separately. Please remember to return to the online dashboard in Clarity to add that information.

Please note: A significant factor in determining a family's need for tuition assistance is the number of children in a tuition-charging school. Tuition assistance figures for the most recent academic year are updated annually each summer.

**Fees are estimated. There may be additional charges for certain athletic teams, field trips, or other activities.

The Admissions Committee will review all applications and make decisions during the month of February. You will learn our decision on Thursday, February 19, 2026.

Families who accept our offer of admission will need to complete an enrollment contract in the Admissions Portal for each accepted student. Enrollment contracts and deposits are due by Friday, March 6, 2026. The enrollment deposit is ten percent of your son's yearly tuition.
