California Alumni Events in LA, Palo Alto, and San Francisco - 2026

More than 60 Gilman alumni gathered along the Golden Coast for the School’s annual trio of California regional events in late January. The Los Angeles alumni community enjoyed the first events on the circuit, experiencing Dodger Stadium through a tour by a past Gilman parent and Dodgers executive, followed by a happy hour reception. Greyhounds in Palo Alto were treated to a delicious dinner in the lovely and historic home of a West Coast alumnus. And finally, an energetic crowd of alumni gathered in a heated outdoor space at a San Francisco restaurant to reminisce and hear an update on school life from Head of School Smyth.

42nd Annual Gilman Duals and Wrestling Alumni Reception

Twenty-five alumni spanning eight decades of Gilman wrestling history came together in the C. Markland Kelly, Jr. Health, Wellness, and Fitness Center during a lunch reception held in conjunction with the annual Haswell M. Franklin, Sr. ’50 Gilman Duals on Saturday, January 17. Guests heard about the current team and season from Head Coach Bryn Holmes and reminisced about their days as Greyhounds. The group then filtered out to the mats to witness the Duals' final round.

New York City Alumni Reception 2025

Seventy Gilman alumni traveled from all corners of the city to attend an unforgettable reception at the Union Club in Manhattan’s Upper East Side. The event was made more special by several well-known visitors from 5407 — including Board of Trustees President Andy Brooks ’74; Head of Upper School Brian Ledyard; Head Varsity Lacrosse Coach Tony Incontrera; and Kindergarten Teacher Dia Matthews — a couple of whom joined co-hosts Paul McBride ’06 and Alex Puthumana ’14 in giving the evening's remarks. Lively conversations and reconnections occurred throughout the event. No one was in a hurry to leave, even after the food and drinks had long since disappeared. Thank you to all who attended!

2025 Football Alumni BBQ

Twenty proud Gilman alumni spent an evening with the current varsity team for the annual Football Alumni BBQ. It was a night of camaraderie and fellowship that included an opportunity to watch the Hounds prepare for their home opener against St. Mary's and to connect with football brethren from across the generations over a delicious post-practice BBQ dinner. The coaching staff shared highlights from the current season, and two alumni guest speakers reflected on their own Gilman football experiences.
