program philosophy

Gilman Baseball builds on the School’s purpose: turning boys of promise into men of character. Gilman Baseball is tasked with combining a hard playing, competitive team with the values and expectations that are inherent in the core beliefs of the School. While the goal of the team is to win games and succeed on the diamond, it must be done with class and respect for the opponent. The young men who represent the baseball program are, first and foremost, conscientious students who use their academic talents to demonstrate curiosity, diligence, and hard work in the classroom while potentially using their baseball skills to provide them with future opportunities at top academic colleges and universities around the country. Gilman Baseball is simply an extension of Gilman’s mission and a supplement to its core beliefs.
