Bartlett Takes Command of Air Force's 449th Air Expeditionary Group

On Saturday, June 5, at a change of command ceremony at Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti, Colonel Matthew Bartlett ‘95 took command of the Air Force's 449th Air Expeditionary Group. The 449th is one of two groups the Air Force has in Africa, both under the 435th Air Expeditionary Wing which is headquartered at Ramstein Air Base, Germany. The group is comprised of up to approximately 700 expeditionary Airmen who provide armed ISR (intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance), airlift, base support, personnel rescue, and expeditionary response throughout East Africa employing the MQ-9, C-130, HH-60, and Guardian Angel (Pararescue Jumpers) weapon systems. Matt will be deployed for one year.
