After 42 seasons and 559 wins, enough to make him the 10th all-time winningest high school lacrosse coach in the country, National Lacrosse Hall of Fame member Tom Duquette '69 has stepped down as the Head Lacrosse Coach at Norfolk Academy. Coach Duquette, who joined the Norfolk Academy faculty in 1981, will continue to serve as math department chair and teach math in the Upper School. He will be succeeded on the lacrosse field by another Gilman grad, Ryan Tucker '11. An accomplished player himself at the high school, college, professional, and international levels, Coach Tucker is the son of former Gilman Lacrosse Coach John Tucker and Johns Hopkins University Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Janine Tucker. Coach Tucker will continue to teach history in the Middle School as well. Click here to read the full release from Norfolk Academy.
NOTE: This was almost a Gilman-to-Gilman-to-Gilman handoff. Tinsley Van Durand '65 coached the Norfolk Academy team from 1975-1980. However, there was a one-year gap between the conclusion of his tenure and the beginning of Coach Duquette's.
