The latest book by Patrick Smithwick '69, Racing Time: a Memoir of Love, Loss and Liberation, will be launched on July 25 in Saratoga Springs. Written to stand on its own, Racing Time is the third of a trilogy, following the memoirs Racing My Father and Flying Change. In an advance review, Andrew Lemon, author of the three-volume History of Australian Thoroughbred Racing, said, "This is not just a book about horses. It is about love and life, about aging, death and decay, all done with the sharpest of eye. Only a steeplechase jockey would dare – but is there another jockey, anywhere, who can write prose like Patrick Smithwick?"
