The Bowie Baysox are getting ready for the Double-A playoffs, and Ryan Ripken '12 is playing a big role. Originally drafted by the Orioles out of high school in 2012, Ripken chose instead to attend the University of South Carolina and finished his college career at Indian River State College before being drafted by the Washington Nationals in 2014. He released in spring training ahead of the 2017 season, and then signed with the Orioles to a contract for Short-A Aberdeen.
