With a 1-0 count in the bottom of the second inning, Chicago White Sox right fielder Gavin Sheets '14 lined a splitfinger fastball from Minnesota Twins starter Kenta Maeda into left field for a single. It was Gavin's first major league hit in his first career at bat. He added a double and two RBIs and caught three balls in the outfield as the White Sox topped the Twins 7-6. Gavin, who is Gilman's first alumnus to reach the major leagues, is actually in his second stint with the White Sox - he was called up earlier this month but did not get into a game.
