J.D. Kameen ’10 recently presented an assembly that touched on themes from the book Make Your Bed: Little Things That Can Change Your Life...And Maybe the World, written by Willian H. McRaven, which was the summer reading selection for the Upper School. A 2015 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, J.D. shared two invaluable lessons that he has learned since graduation -- embracing your failures and giving everyone you encounter a second chance.
During his visit to Gilman, J.D. had lunch with seniors and reconnected with a few of his former teachers. Fun fact: J.D., an executive officer in the Marine Expeditionary Force, is one of at least four Gilman men from the classes of 2010 through 2012 who are currently serving among the few and the proud: Jay Brooks ’10, Andrew Mighty ’10, and Connor Hankin ’12, are all Marines.
