Vice Admiral Rick Snyder ’79 and Captain Steve Snyder ’80 Celebrate Navy Retirements

On Friday, July 30, 2021, Vice Admiral Rick Snyder ’79 and Captain Steve Snyder ’80 celebrated their retirements from the Navy at a ceremony before family and friends at Naval Station Mayport, Florida. 

Rick completed 38 years of service that included tours as a helicopter squadron commanding officer, commanding officer of USS BATAAN (LHD-5), command of Expeditionary Strike Group TWO, joint duty at the Pentagon, and in Colorado Springs and culminated his career as the Naval Inspector General. 

Steve completed 30 years of service in 2014 that included flying combat missions over Iraq in the A-6 Intruder attack aircraft and a year-long tour in northern Afghanistan. He served as the Commanding Officer of five Navy Reserve units supporting NATO, USN Fleet Forces, and the National Defense University.
