2018 Updates & Announcements

2018 Donation - $22,500 - est. 450 hours of research!

2018 has been a great year for the SGF!  In May we hosted the 4th Annual Strides for Spencer, resulting in the best turnout since the event began, bringing more than 250 supporters.  There were also many unable to attend who showed their support through the virtual run, private events and donations.

In total, with your help, we raised another $22,500, which has been donated this month in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness.  Our donation will continue to support pediatric brain tumor research at Johns Hopkins.  These funds are equivalent to approximately 450 hours of research....so together we are making a difference!

Through your generosity and support over the last 3 1/2 years, we have almost raised $100,000 in support of research!

A special thank you to the following supporters, sponsors and individuals who held private fundraisers in support of the SGF.  Full update here!

The Spencer Grace Foundation officially kicked-off with a fun, family event  at Rodgers' Farm.  Thank you to our sponsors NB&C LLC, Rodgers' Farm, Seigel, Tully and Furrer LLC and Miss Shirley's.  And thanks to all who attended!  - October 2015

Thank you PayPal for awarding The Spencer Grace Foundation a $1,500 grant to help fund research!

- December 2015

Spencer Grace's Last Gift
We wanted to share an article from the Johns Hopkins Magazine, which featured Spencer's story and our decision to participate in the rapid autopsy program. While the research wasn't there to save Spencer, our dream is that raising awareness of programs like this and raising awareness of the desperate need for advanced research into these diseases will save another child. Giving a child and their family a future is what we fight for! https://hub.jhu.edu/magazine/2018/spring/spencer-grace-rapid-autopsy-program/

2017 Donation - $18,000

We’d like to personally thank all those who have supported SGF over the past year. In September 2017, in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and our hero, Spencer Grace, SGF donated another $18,000.00 in support of Dr. Raabe’s pediatric brain cancer research. We’re further excited to announce that this amount was matched by Alex’s Lemonade Stand, making the total donation $36,000.00. This would not be possible without our event sponsors and partners, our many volunteers, and every individual and family who made a donation. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts!

Reflecting on 2015

2015 was a devastating year for us due to the loss of our three year-old daughter, Spencer Grace, to cancer.  Despite our grief, we decided to use Spencer's story and brave example as a means of helping other children diagnosed with brain tumors, and raising awareness of the challenges currently facing the pediatric oncology community.  The research was not there to save our daughter, but with the support of The Spencer Grace Foundation and other like charities, it is our hope that future children facing these terrible diagnoses will have treatments available to them to ensure a full and healthy life.

We are tremendously proud to share that throughout 2015, with Spencer's memorial fund and money raised by The Spencer Grace Foundation, we have surpassed $38,000 for research.  These funds are currently being used to further the study of recurrent medulloblastoma and new treatment options at Johns Hopkins.  We are even more excited to report that the research conducted to date with one new drug has shown such progress that Johns Hopkins is planning to begin a clinical trial.  It is a big step to transition research from the lab to clinical trial.  So, we, along with the dedicated doctors and researchers working to beat this disease, are very hopeful.  There is still a long way to go, but we are one step closer to helping children like Spencer obtain the future they deserve.

This progress would not have been possible without ALL OF YOU!!!  Thank you so much, from the bottom of our hearts, for your ongoing support and for preserving the memory of our beautiful daughter in this way. Because of YOU, we are making a difference!
