James McLaughlin ’26 began serving on the Student Advisory Board of Baltimore Votes in February. “Our main goal is to encourage students to serve as election judges,” he said. He will lead a panel discussion at the Maryland Civic Education and Engagement Leadership Summit.

In the summer of 2023, Neel Behari ’25 and Peter Eiswert ’25 initiated Ethics Bowl involvement at Gilman. One of the newly formed teams came in first place at the Mid-Atlantic High School Ethics Bowl held at the University of Baltimore on February 3.
Fresh on the heels of an undefeated regular season and their 2023-2024 MIAA A Conference Dual Meet Championship win in early February, Gilman Wrestling ended its historic season on top as the champions of the 2024 MIAA Wrestling Tournament.

It was a historic day in the pool for the Gilman swim team on Saturday, February 3 at the MIAA Swimming Championships held at Loyola University. Six Gilman swim team records fell, and three All-American consideration times were achieved. Congratulations to all!
Jackson Heether '25 and Max Kunisaki '25 broke two of the oldest Gilman swim records at the meet against Calvert Hall on Thursday, January 25, which the team also collectively won. Heether broke the 50 free record, last set in 1999, and Kunisaki broke the 500 free record, last set in 1985.
Each week, The Baltimore Sun recognizes one male and one female high school player for their athletic achievements. For January 22-28, it recognized Gilman's own Cam Brown '25 for his performance in track and field. He earned two gold medals at the MIAA championships on Friday, January 26, with a personal best in the high jump (6 feet, 2 inches).
Twenty-nine Upper School students from Gilman competed at Yale Model UN over the weekend of January 18-21 in New Haven, Connecticut. Five came away with awards. “All of the members of the club are some of the most impressive young men at Gilman,” said the team’s coach, Upper School English teacher Jake Scott.
Jamie Howard ’24 will join Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen in representing Maryland during the 62nd annual United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP) Washington Week.
Jonathan Yu '26 placed 47th and was the top scorer in Baltimore City on the University of Maryland Math Competition.
