After School Music Program (ASMP)

The ASMP is overseen by Gilman Director of Music Ariel Dechosa. ASMP instructors are all professional musicians and are graduates of major conservatoires such as the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University, The Juilliard School, and the Manhattan School of Music.

2024-2025 Program Dates

ASMP will begin September 16, 2024, and run through May 09, 2025. The last day to withdraw from the program for 2024-2025 is Friday, September 27, which is the end of the second week.

Availability

The ASMP runs Mondays through Fridays but does not operate on early dismissal days — either pre-scheduled or due to inclement weather — or when Gilman is closed for holidays or breaks.

Scheduling

ASMP lessons vary based on instructor and student schedules. Registration is formatted in a way that prioritizes the earliest slots for our youngest students. However, after registration, your instructor may offer additional availability. You will be notified in early September of the instructor you have been placed with and the finalized days and times of your child's lessons for the school year.

Students can be registered for 30, 45, or 60-minute lessons. Lesson times are determined based on each individual instructor and student's schedule. If placed in the program, you can expect to hear directly from your child's assigned ASMP instructor in early September with specifics regarding the days and times of your child's lessons for the school year. ASMP cannot guarantee a specific day of the week or time slot at the time of enrollment.

Start Times

• 3:15 p.m.: Open to grades K–1 only
• 3:45–4:00 p.m.: Open to grades K–5 only
• 4:15–4:45 p.m.: Open to all grades
• 4:45–5:15 p.m.: Open to all grades
• Custom Class Time:
  • Open to Upper School grades (9–12) only
  • Lessons are available during study halls and free periods to Upper School students

Rates for 2024-2025

• $1,200 for 30-minutes
• $1,800 for 45-minutes
• $2,400 for 60-minutes

All rates are for 30 lessons in total.

Please Note: School holidays and activities are considered when determining the annual program rates. Books and all other materials will be billed separately.

Please note that the last day to withdraw from the program for 2024-2025 is Friday, September 27, which is the end of the second week. Also please note that the deposit option expires on March 1, 2025, and all balances are due by May 1, 2025.

If more than two lessons are missed due to inclement weather or other official school closings, the student will receive a credit, or the lesson will be made up.

Please note that no credits are given due to student absence, as our private teachers must be paid for their on-campus time.

If you choose to withdraw your child from ASMP, no refund, prorate, or credit will be given for any remaining lessons.

Students who attend the ASMP must abide by the rules and regulations outlined in the Gilman Student & Parent Handbook for student conduct and behavior. Students must also continue to strive to be honorable and to exhibit the Gilman Five. If a student exhibits a pattern of not displaying appropriate conduct and behavior, the School reserves the right to dismiss the student from the program.
