JOHNS HOPKINS CENTER FOR TALENTED YOUTH (CTY) SUMMER DAY PROGRAMS

The Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY) offers day programs at Gilman School for bright students currently in grades 2-6 who qualify through an above-grade-level test. CTY's one-week and three-week advanced courses in math, science, writing, and the humanities challenge students and connect them with other bright kids who share their interests, so they can learn and have fun together.

Students will build their skills while exploring their favorite topics, tackling rigorous coursework and hands-on projects, and participating in fun courses like: Cloudy with a Chance of Science, Data and Chance, Introduction to Robotics, The Physics of Engineering, and Writing and Imagination.

BRIDGES SUMMER INSTITUTE

Every Bridges student participates in the five-week Summer Institute on the Gilman campus, an intensive academic and social enrichment program that emphasizes study skills, athletic participation, and character development. Master teachers from local private and public schools conduct challenging classes in reading, writing, math, and art, and weekly field trips broaden students' awareness of the city and region.

Gilman, Bryn Mawr, and Roland Park Country School students serve as volunteers by providing classroom support for Summer Institute teachers and valuable assistance for our head counselors.

MIDDLE GRADES PARTNERSHIP (MGP)

Gilman is a founding partner in the Baltimore Community Foundation's Middle Grades Partnership. Our public school partner is Southwest Baltimore Charter School. In programs conceived and taught jointly by independent (including Gilman) and public school teachers and college interns, MGP endeavors to equip 600 academically promising Baltimore City public school students with the skills needed to succeed in a rigorous college preparatory high school.

All MGP students study writing, reading, and mathematics, while some programs also offer music, art, dance, sports, field trips — both in and out of Baltimore — and high school choice guidance and college readiness instruction.
