Kevin Fryar, Chief of Staff for the Office for Geostationary Satellites at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), visited the third and fifth grades on Wednesday, March 6, in the Lower School library.
“How many hours do you think we read?” she asked the Lower School student body seated in the auditorium. After taking a guess from the audience, she revealed the number: a whopping 3,592 hours!
Second graders patronized the latest hot spot on Roland Avenue on Friday, September 30. “Mr. LJ Shapiro’s group, party of 10,” the second grade teacher announced before Lower School librarian-turned-hostess Melissa Da seated them at the table filled with a platter of mystery books.
The results are in! Lower School boys collectively read for more than 4,893 hours and raised nearly $25,000 for a local organization in this year's read-a-thon.
