As members of the Gilman Class of 2019 gathered in Centennial Hall on Friday to practice lining up and filing in and out of the Baccalaureate ceremony, as well as the Founders Day celebration, they were dressed in the familiar white slacks, blue button-downs, and navy blazers. But, one important piece was missing. Their Gilman ties! Thankfully, Tom Waxter ‘82 and Beau Smith ‘99, President and Treasurer of the Alumni Association Board of Governors, respectively, were on hand to rectify the situation! Tom, whose grandfather, father, and son all attended Gilman, greeted the seniors and reflected on the connection that these ties represent, joining together the 7,000+ Gilman graduates since its founding. Tom then led the group in a toast (sparkling cider, of course), and officially welcomed them into the Alumni Association before handing out the ties. The boys then tied up their ties - some were admittedly a bit rusty! - and headed off to practice.
