Fetting '72 Spotlighted for Book About BCF's History

Past Gilman Board President Mark R. Fetting '72 was spotlighted in the Baltimore Community Foundation's (BCF) bi-annual magazine, “Intersection,” for his beginning-to-end involvement in the publication of a 100-page book documenting 50 years of BCF's rich history. The book, titled “Lasting Impact: The Baltimore Community Foundation” and published in May 2023, was the culmination of Mark's more than 11 years of service on the BCF board and a project representative of his avocation for archivism and love of history, particularly that of Baltimore. “Anyone who knows me knows that I am passionate, if not obsessed, about history, and Baltimore history in particular, so when BCF was approaching this anniversary, I knew I wanted to be involved,” Mark shared when interviewed by BCF.

The “Intersection” article also celebrates Mark’s activism for the improvement of Baltimore City schools, particularly those with inadequate facilities. He was part of the coalition that created the 21st Century Schools initiative; since its launch in 2019, 29 schools have been renovated or newly built. “The notion of giving back has been central to my life,” Mark said.

In addition to serving as Gilman Board President from 2018-2022, Mark has supported in a leadership role the School’s annual giving efforts, capital campaigns, and reunion planning efforts. Read the full story.
