Poggi '79 Cites Finney’s Example in his Coaching Philosophy at UNC-Charlotte
Hero Sports, an online publication specializing in college football coverage, profiled Biff Poggi '79 in a May article. Poggi was recently appointed head coach at UNC-Charlotte. It will be his debut as an NCAA head coach; he had previously served in associate or assistant coach capacities at Michigan, Brown, Temple, and The Citadel. In the article, Poggi highlights his life-altering experience at Gilman, referencing in particular the profound influence of a certain former headmaster. “[The] man who changed my life was a man named Redmond Finney. [Finney] was a great believer in kids and that is how I modeled my coaching.”
