Alumni Host Wall Street 101

Recently 20 current students -- freshmen through seniors -- boarded a 6:30 a.m. Amtrak train and headed for New York City. Once in Manhattan, they rushed downtown to Goldman Sachs, where Greg Lee ‘86 and his colleagues introduced them to the inner workings of an investment bank. From there, the group headed north to General Atlantic, where colleagues of Paul Stamas ‘00 -- who had been unexpectedly called out of town -- walked them through a case study that demonstrated how private equity firms approach a deal. After lunch, the group walked over to Berkshire Capital, where Bruce Cameron ‘74 hosted a panel discussion that exposed the students to alumni who have followed different potential career paths in the finance industry. The panel included Chad Burdette ‘02 of Barclays, Andy Cohen ‘90 of Cohen Private Ventures, Michael Faridi ‘02 of Morgan Stanley, Jon Jachman ‘95 of Taconic Capital, and Arif Joshi ‘94 of Lazard Asset Management. Even a torrential downpour on the commute back to the train station could not dim the mood of the group.
