Recap: 2022 D.C. Regional Alumni Reception

A chilly fall breeze moved the party indoors but could not dampen the festive spirit inside as Gilman alumni from the 1950s through the 2010s gathered at Cozen O'Connor in D.C.'s Dupont Circle on Tuesday, October 18. Hugh Marbury '87 had graciously offered to host the event, but was called out of town for work at the last minute and was unable to attend. Alumni Association Board of Governors Vice President Matt Tucker '93 welcomed the group and encouraged them to remain engaged with the School through spirit, service, and support.

Head of School Henry Smyth spoke about the beginning of the school year, highlighting the large number of events that have this year feeling far more "normal" than others in the recent past. He then answered questions from the crowd on coordination with Roland Park Country School and Bryn Mawr School, green energy on campus, concussions in sports, post-pandemic challenges, tech in the classroom, and more. Lots of smiles could be seen as old friends reconnected and new friendships were forged.
