The Maryland Art Education Association (MAEA) has recognized Gilman's Middle School Art Teacher Dave Anderson as the state's middle level art educator. Anderson taught in Howard County before he arrived at Gilman, where he has taught MS art for 16 years. He has presented at state, national, and international art education conferences. Most recently, he presented at the International Society for Education through the Arts (InSEA)'s annual congress in Finland. His topic was the cultural identity dilemma associated with monuments and memorials.
