Sorting It Out

Lower School science teacher and House Program leader Becca Stolzenbach welcomed the Lower School students in second through fifth grades to the Stevens Room on Thursday, September 7 for The Sorting (of students into houses). While returning students already have strong loyalty to their respective houses, students new to Gilman needed to be sorted. And they were ready!

Through the excitement of a balloon-popping colored confetti reveal — thank you to third grade teacher and House Program leader Jen Reiter and her safety pin — each new student learned of their new allegiance. Every announcement was followed by big smiles and enthusiastic cheers.

The gathering also disclosed the points that were awarded points based on house members' display of the Gilman Five in the first few days of school: 50 to Humilitas, Excellentia and Virtus; 55 to Honestas; and 60 to Dignitas. Congratulations to all!

"No matter what house you're in, we are all part of one community," Stolzenbach reminded the boys. "We are all one Gilman."
