Adashi '94 Receives Mary Sawyers Baker Prize
Judah Adashi '94 was named a 2024 Mary Sawyers Baker Prize recipient by the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance (GBCA). The Baker Artist Awards recognize artists who demonstrate excellence in three areas: Mastery of Craft, Depth of Artistic Exploration, and Unique Vision. One artist in each of six artistic disciplines — Visual Arts, Film/ Video, Interdisciplinary, Literary Arts, Performance, and Music —- is awarded the $10,000 Mary Sawyers Baker Prize.

Adashi received the prize for music. A composer and pianist, Adashi’s prize-winning portfolio follows the classical tradition and features soul and pop influences. According to the GBCA’s award statement, Adashi’s music “is guided by a belief that the creation and performance of new music can bear witness to injustice, create space for empathy, and serve as a call to action.”
