Robert Marbury '89, senior vice president, creative at Imre and author of "Taxidermy Art: A Rogue's Guide to the Work, the Culture, and How to Do It Yourself," joined students and faculty in the Fenimore Library Reading Room on April 5 to talk about his wide-ranging work. He showed off — both in-person and on the screen — great examples of the history and art of taxidermy. He defined the language surrounding and various types of taxidermy, including rogue taxidermy, exodermy, derpodermy, wet specimen, and even gremlincore.

Marbury also shared moving examples of artists around the world using taxidermy and discussed its ethical implications, legal ramifications, cultural significance, and the various approaches artists have taken to the craft. He also told a number of great stories about his own professional experience, from consulting for reality TV shows to serving as a judge in taxidermy competitions.
