Bowie '08 Named Offensive Coordinator at ACU

Rick Bowie '08, a veteran football coach of several collegiate programs, was recently appointed as the new offensive coordinator for Abilene Christian University (ACU). ACU plays in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) and competes as a member of the United Athletic Conference (UAC).

Bowie oversaw a high-powered offense at VSU that put up prolific numbers in his two years at the helm. In both seasons, his offense averaged over 36 points per game. In the 2023 season, Valdosta State went 12-2, won the Gulf South Conference, and advanced to the NCAA Division II quarterfinals. Before Valdosta, Bowie held coaching positions at the University of Houston and West Virginia University. He began his career at Gilman, teaching in the Lower School and coaching tight ends and quarterbacks.
