Over the month of April, the Gilman Investment Society competed in the National Economics Challenge for High School Students hosted by the Council for Economic Education. The team came in first place in both the district round and at the state level before competing for a spot in the national semifinals.
The competition included both individual and team components, covering microeconomics, macroeconomics, and international economics. “We prepared by studying core economic concepts and practicing collaboratively, especially for the team round where communication and quick thinking are key,” said Gabriel Romero '27, GIS Leadership Team and Educational Manager. “It was a great opportunity to apply what we’ve learned in a competitive setting.” Romero hopes to get the group involved in more competitions in the future.
Thank you to the team's advisor, Director of College Counseling Sarah Ross. Way to go, GIS!
