At the well-attended Hispanic Students Association meeting on Thursday, October 24, club members and special guest and parent Dr. William Checkley gave a presentation on the topic of elections to a group of students from a variety of backgrounds.
While recent meetings touched cultures and traditions of different countries, this lunchtime gathering centered on the elections and related processes of multiple nations, including the United States. “We also focused on the large impact Hispanic and Latino voters will have on this election, as well as the outcomes our community could see under either candidate,” said club president Brian Checkley ’25.
All are welcome at the Hispanic Students Association, which encourages anyone who is interested to come and embrace Hispanic and Latino culture. The club also serves as a safe space for Hispanic students to be together in community.
A special thank you to the family of recent graduate Nick Cruz ’24, owner of Bayside Cantina, for generously catering the meeting.
