Kamenetz ’19 Prepares for County Council Campaign
Karson Kamenetz ’19, a first-year student at the University of Maryland Carey School of Law, recently announced his intentions to run for a seat on the Baltimore County Council.
As detailed in an interview with WYPR, Baltimore’s local NPR affiliate, Kamenetz plans to run in the County Council’s second district in 2026. (It is expected that the second district’s current representative, Izzy Patoka, will run for county executive in 2026.) If elected, Kamenetz will be the youngest-ever Baltimore County councilman. He was elected to and served on the Baltimore County Democratic State Central Committee from 2022-2024.
Kamenetz shared with WYPR his motivation to carry on his late father’s legacy of service. Kevin Kamenetz ’75 served in state government for over 20 years, first as a county councilman and then as county executive.
