
Martire ’89 Named Head of School at Landon
Dr. Andrew “Andy” Matire ’89 was introduced as the next head of school at Landon School, an all-boys, grades 3-12 independent school in Bethesda, Maryland.
Martire came to Landon from The Tatnall School in Wilmington, Delaware, where he served as head of school since 2020. Before Tatnall, he led the Kinkaid School, a PK-12 co-ed day school in Houston, from 2013 through 2018. Previously, he was head of school at Calvert in Baltimore.
Martire's first teaching job was at Gilman. He taught fifth grade and Upper School history and English, coached football and basketball, and served as Dean of Students.
Martire graduated cum laude from Princeton University, where he majored in politics and played football. He earned a Master of Liberal Arts degree at Johns Hopkins University and a Doctorate of Education from the University of Pennsylvania.
