Mother’s Day, Taiwan Style

Guest post by Cecilia Eppler, Lower School Modern Languages teacher:

Throughout the school year our second grade boys have been collaborating with the Shihyung School in Taiwan by exchanging letters and messages. Last week the boys got to meet their friends in person during their first Skype.Class with posters

The boys spent 40 minutes asking questions to get to know each other better, sang songs, and admired Chinese writing samples made by our partners in Taiwan.

Our students learned that in Taiwan schools organize a festival to celebrate and thank all the mothers on Mother’s Day. They enjoyed a virtual tour of the school's festival activities during the mothers’ special day. The celebration includes students giving their mom's massages, washing their feet, and then writing letters of gratitude for all they do.

Our boys truly loved watching all these images. They are now looking forward to continuing their friendship with the students at the Shihyung School.
