Undefeated Varsity Water Polo Seeks Fourth MIAA Title

Gilman varsity water polo is in hot pursuit of its third MIAA title in four years. Despite having relinquished the title to Loyola Blakefield last year, the Greyhounds are currently undefeated in conference play (and 15-2 on the season), having easily taken down four of their league foes: Calvert Hall College, 16-10, Archbishop Spalding, 19-7, Loyola Blakefield, 18-13, and McDonogh 21-3.

Their recent win against the Eagles was followed by a spirited storming of the pool, including a back dive by Head of School Henry Smyth!

The Greyhounds also won the Beast of the East tournament in Philadelphia during the weekend of September 27-28. The Hounds went 4-1 overall to take home the Flight 2 Championship with a 16-2 win over Cumberland Valley in the final.

“Coach Smith and I continue to be so impressed by this team's grit and pursuit of excellence,” said Devina Bhalla, Assistant Water Polo Coach. “Whether it be four games in one day (like at the Battle of the Beltways tournament) or a particularly difficult opponent (like LaSalle at Beast of the East), they continue to work hard, work together, and work toward excellence. We're both excited about the success we've had thus far, and even more excited about the growth and opportunity ahead.”
