Max Verheyen '19, a graduate student swimmer for Loyola University Maryland, was recently named the 2024 Patriot League Men's Swimming and Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year. For award consideration, a student-athlete must have at minimum a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key contributor in their sport.

Verheyen holds a 4.0 GPA while pursuing a Master's in Emerging Media at Loyola. He graduated with a degree in psychology from Loyola in May 2023 with a 3.878 GPA. In the pool, he is a four-time All-Patriot League First Team member and, in recent competition, was a member of the meet-record-setting 200-yard medley relay at the 2024 Patriot League Championships. Over the summer, Verheyen will be in the running for the Patriot League Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year award.
