Voelker '87 Retires as Head Coach of Drexel’s Men’s Lacrosse Team
Drexel University recently announced the retirement of Brian Voelker '87, head coach of its men’s lacrosse team.

Voelker took the helm for the Dragons in the fall of 2009 as the sixth head coach in program history. He led Drexel to its first-ever Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship in 2014. That team tied a school record with 13 wins, five of them against ranked opponents, and defeated fourth-seeded and ninth-ranked University of Pennsylvania to reach the NCAA Quarterfinals. The Dragons won another CAA championship under Voelker in 2021. They finished 10-3 that year and won nine straight games; Voelker was named CAA Coach of the Year.

Voelker will retired with 114 victories at Drexel — good for second place in program history. His teams advanced to 12 of 14 CAA tournaments during his tenure, including four championship games. He coached 11 All-Americans and two CAA Player of the Year award winners.
