Gilman Places 10th at Empire Mock Trial World Championship

Congratulations to Gilman's Mock Trial team, which competed against more than 400 high school students from 22 states and five countries over November 4-5 in the 2023 Empire Mock Trial World Championship in Chicago. Out of 40 impressive and competitive teams, Gilman's team of 12 students went 3-1 and placed 10th.

“I am very proud of our team's performance and how well we represented Gilman,” said team captain Zach Minkin '24. “All of our witnesses delivered strong performances, and the lawyers collaborated well during trials and argued passionately. The team was never afraid of a fight — and hard-fought victories against very impressive opponents were numerous.”

As the team now turns its efforts to the city and state competition, Minkin said, “The entire team expresses its gratitude to Gilman for providing us with this unique and invaluable opportunity to compete in one of the premier high school mock trial competitions.”

Congratulations to all the participants, listed below, as well as faculty advisors Jake Scott, Kenan Ulku-Steiner, and Matthew Baum.
