Crazy for Gershwin

Gilman's 2019 spring musical has come and gone but the music remains, as ear worms for a generation that is barely aware of Gershwin and the golden age of musicals.

The Tony Award-winning musical comedy Crazy for You, featuring a cast of 36 students from the Gilman, Bryn Mawr, and Roland Park Country Schools, as well as St. Paul’s School for Girls, was performed earlier in May, breaking attendance records and selling out three of the four shows.

Senior Luke Sabracos performed the male lead opposite St. Paul’s senior Layla Sartipy. Other Gilman students in leading and supporting roles included seniors Quinn Beagle, Alex Lawson, Ben Levinson, Steven Li, Matt Meittinis and Noah Seth, as well as junior Tyler Martire. Bryn Mawr’s Keri McClelland, Liza Plant Gray Purcell, and Hannalise Shaughnessy, and RPCS’s Alex Cashman also played principal roles.

The production was the 15th show directed by Upper School Teacher John Rowell. Music was directed by Bryn Mawr’s Todd Twining, with choreography by Jesse Palmer Miller. Set design was done by our own Chris Flint '07.
