How does a school for boys honor women? At Gilman we take this as an imperative and look for opportunities to do so throughout the year.
The Upper School kicked off Women’s History Month with an assembly about the importance of commemorating women and telling their stories as well as the stories of other traditionally underrepresented groups. In this video of the presentation, Director of College Counseling Sarah Ross, history teacher Michael Molina, and student Kezmond Elliott ‘20 address the assembled US student body.
During US and MS assemblies throughout the month, a member of the Gilman community will share a fact about a woman who played (or continues to play) a part in the history of the country or a significant event affecting women (and men).
Our Lumen blog looks back in time at the women who shaped Gilman’s earliest years. Learn about them here.
