Senior Encounter: Call for Mentors

Would you be interested in sharing your time and expertise with a Gilman senior this spring?

Senior Encounter, the capstone experience of the senior year, enables each student to explore a field of interest with an adult who works in that area. From May 17 through May 31, 2022, seniors will engage in a full-time workplace internship with a mentor who has agreed to supervise and teach him about their profession. Students are eager to learn from their mentors and to contribute their own talents and perspective.

The Senior Encounter program is a wonderful opportunity to mentor a young adult and teach him about the work that you do, and we are looking to expand our network of potential mentors. If you or someone within your organization would be willing to supervise a senior for the two-week Encounter program, please complete the short online form.

Given the ongoing pandemic, please note that we are supporting Senior Encounter projects in three formats: in-person, hybrid, and virtual. We will leave it up to each senior and mentor to agree to the best format and appropriate health and safety procedures, though we expect the seniors to be engaged in their Encounter project for seven or more hours daily regardless of the format.
